Do You Need A Plotter For PPF?
When having PPF installed, precision plot cutters create custom-fit vehicle patterns for most vehicle models, to ensure a precise and seamless fit. The meticulously designed plot cutter then precisely cuts the PPF material, allowing for a perfect application that shields vehicles from various environmental hazards. But what happens when there isn’t an available plot for a specific vehicle or an older car?
What is Bulk PPF Install?
Essentially bulk PPF install means there is no plot for a specific type of vehicle. Often we see this with older vehicles or with custom aftermarket bodypanels and aero. Because there is no plot to help precisely install the PPF it will need to be bulk installed instead. Bulk installation requires that the film be cut by hand with a precision blade. This also means that the blade will need to come near the surface of your vehicle’s paint. To ensure that the vehicle’s paint is left unharmed and that the film is cut to the most precise measurements our Master PPF Technicians at HQD apply a cutting technique called Scoring.
What is Scoring?
Scoring essentially cuts halfway through the paint protection film so that the technician is able to easily rip the rest of the film along the cut. This technique when employed by an experienced PPF professional ensures that the blade will never come in contact with the vehicle’s paint.
Selecting an experienced and knowledgeable PPF installer is incredibly important when having paint protection film applied to your vehicle. A certified expert possesses the expertise to accurately assess your car’s unique needs and ensure a precise fit for maximum protection. Proficiency in proper installation techniques, such as bulk installs, guarantees that the PPF will effectively safeguard your vehicle’s paint from environmental hazards, maintaining its appearance and resale value for years to come.
